Our wait will soon be over. The Palm Pre Smart Phone will be released on June 6th. The price will be $199 with service contract and $100 mail in rebate. Besides the obvious Sprint Stores Palm Pre will be also be available at Best Buy, Radio Shack, and some Walmart Stores.

Palm pre Smart Phone

Today Palm announced their long awaited Linux based Smart Phone called the pre. It’s an egg shaped device with a Multi-touch screen and a roll-a-ball for input. It also houses a banana type vertical slide out screen. This smart phone has everything. Here are the highlights:

  • 3.1 inch 320×480 multitouch display
  • EvDO
  • Rev A
  • Wi-Fi
  • GPS
  • Bluetooth stereo
  • 8 GB storage
  • Accelerometer
  • Proximity sensor

The wow/wildcard factor for this device is that the apps are written using HTML/CSS, Javascript, and Ajax. This opens the possibilities of powerful and unique application written by any person that can write in these languages.
